Kodesh BBQ and Bowls

Food trucks are becoming all the rage these days, and they really are a great way for small business owners to get started in the food and beverage industry. This rings true for Yachiyd and Tsapha Yahu, the owners of Kodesh BBQ and Bowls. The pair uprooted their family from the Sunshine State of Florida and moved to the beautiful Upstate area of South Carolina, where Yachiyd has been pursuing his passion for cooking and serving the community for the past six months.

My family loves a good food truck, so we were even more delighted to find out that our apartment complex often schedules food trucks to be parked in our parking lot. Yay for not having to cook or do dishes — IYKYK!!

Just a few short weeks ago, we were blessed with the fine smoked meats of Kodesh BBQ and Bowls. As soon as I rounded into our complex parking lot after work, the smell of smoked meat assaulted my senses, and my stomach growled hungrily in response.

My husband ordered the smoked chicken dinner with turkey mac and cheese and yellow rice on the side. The chicken was really tender and had a beautiful smoked flavor. It was so well-cooked that there really wasn’t much need for any sauces (some habits are just hard to break. The rice was cooked to perfection, and the turkey mac and cheese was delicious as well – I was lucky enough to get a bite before he inhaled his meal.

I don’t usually choose turkey legs, but my choice for the evening did not disappoint! The turkey was smoked in a foil wrap, a method used in order for the meat to retain its flavor and juices. The meat so tender that it ripped right off the bone in the most satisfying way. There was so much meat that I had to save the rest for lunch the next day–luckily, it tasted just as good then too! Unfortunately, I devoured the turkey leg and failed to snap a pic, but we will most definitely be returning to the truck for more in the future.

Kodesh has several different entrée and side offerings – wings being one of their best. The wings come in three order sizes (6ct, 10ct, and 20ct) with seven flavor choices, and they come served up with crispy fries or a side of your choice. With all of these tantalizing options, you really can’t go wrong here.

For those wanting a healthier option, there are a variety of lower calorie bowls to please your palate. You can choose to add chicken, turkey, salmon, or avocado to their Original, Mexi Chop, Jamaican Jerk, or Asian bowl. Bowls can also be topped with an array of of sauces for extra flavor.
